What is Skin Pigmentation & Sun Damage?

This treatment uses the Frax 1940 laser wavelength, designed to target superficial pigment. It works by breaking up excess melanin (sun spots, age spots) and encouraging the turnover of healthy skin cells. Unlike IPL, this fractional approach also improves skin texture and elasticity while helping even out tone.

Common questions about this treatment

How is this different from AlexToning or ClariToning?
Skin Pigmentation & Sun Damage treatment uses the Frax 1940 laser to address broader sun damage and pigment across the full face or chest. AlexToning uses a 755 nm Alexandrite laser specifically for superficial pigment and freckles on light-to-medium skin tones, while ClariToning combines two wavelengths for both surface and deeper pigment correction. Your provider will help match the right treatment to your skin tone and concern.
How does laser treatment for pigmentation work?
The Frax 1940 laser delivers microscopic energy columns that break up excess melanin clusters in the skin. As the skin heals, these pigment particles are lifted to the surface and flake off, revealing clearer skin underneath.
How many sessions are needed?
Typically 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. You will see results after one session, but significant improvement usually requires a full series.
What is aftercare?
Redness and mild peeling for 2 to 3 days is normal. You MUST avoid direct sun for a week and use SPF 30+ daily, or the pigment may return.
When will results appear?
You will notice the pigment darken initially (coffee-ground effect), then flake off after 5-7 days, leaving brighter skin behind.
